Apple iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S III display quality battle Samsung might be winning it after all

Apple iPhone 5 vs Samsung Galaxy S III display quality battle: Samsung might be winning it after all

We’ve previously heard that the iPhone 5 display is quite simply the best display that has ever arrived in a smartphone. AnandTech did some extensive testing, others chipped in, but now iHS says that the numbers might have been a bit off and the main rival to the iPhone 5, the Samsung Galaxy S III might actually be the better performer in terms of the way it renders the color gamut.

The image on the Galaxy S III should reportedly be with better saturation, and more vivid, vibrant. The difference should be tiny and probably even negligible, but it technically is still there.

Still, with “better calibration, higher brightness and superior power efficiency” the iPhone 5 might make Samsung’s GS III look “oversaturated and unrealistic,” Vinita Jakhanwal of iHS noted.

The two devices show the best of iOS and Android, and are set to be direct rivals in the market, but in actuality they are very different. iPhone 5’s 4-inch screen might seem small for those who want more space, like what the 4.8-inch SGS III display provides.

Both devices are extremely thin, and when it comes to the displays we’ve also heard reports about just how well calibrated the iPhone 5 screen is, and that’s one of its biggest pluses. The iPhone 5 uses an LCD screen with in-cell touch technology while the Galaxy S III features an HD Super AMOLED panel.
