iPhone attachment adds 14 megapixel camera and a better flash launches November 28
As we said in our iPhone 5 review, Apple’s latest and greatest smartphone is well capable of taking great photos with its 8-megapixel camera. Those who wish to take their iPhone photography to an even higher level, however, will be able to do so with this peculiar add-on.
Popular artist and entrepreneur will.i.am announced the upcoming launch of his i.am+ gadget lineup, and the first item to see the light of day will be an iPhone accessory. Basically, the gizmo is a dedicated 14-megapixel camera equipped with its own image sensor, optics and flash.
No further details about the hardware have been revealed yet, but will.i.am promises that his attachment will “turn your smartphone into a genius-phone”. Both the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4 will be compatible with the i.am+ camera, so we presume that an iPhone 4S will work with it as well.
Interested in getting one already? Well, you better live near London as the iPhone add-on will be sold exclusively by Selfridges starting November 28. Pricing has not been disclosed, but chances are that the i.am+ camera won’t come cheap.
