Toshiba announced the MKxx61GSY and MKxx61GSYB Series 2.5-inch 7200RPM SATA hard drive for high-end computing and application.

The MKxx61GSY series is targeted at high-end notebooks, gaming laptops, mobile workstation as well as all-in-on PCs. It is available in 160 to 640GB capacities. On the other hand, the MKxx61GSYB is a high-durability model for demanding 24×7 applications such as network switches, blade servers. It comes in 80GB to 500GB.

Both Toshiba MKxx61GSY and MKxx61GSYB Series have 16MB buffer memory and supports SATA 3GB/s interface. Toshiba will also release the Self-Encrypting Drive (SED), designed to the TCG Opal specificaton, offering industry-standard, government-grade security features.
